Chelsea 3 vs Stoke 0- Easy Peazy

Chelsea 3 vs Stoke 0- Easy Peazy

Sup Renjas?

Prematch

Chelsea needed a win today to keep their slim hopes of a Premier League title alive, while Stoke City were nearing the point where they were mathematically safe from any chance of being relegated.

Also at stake- Chelsea's unbeaten Premier League home game run under Jose Mourinho ( 76 today)

It was a choice upfront between No Confidence Torres and On The Floor Ba NC Torres won hands down.

First start for Salah, in the middle with Willian and Schurrle. Oscar and Hazard drop to the bench

Stephen Ireland was due to start for Stoke, but was taken ill . Wilson Palacios replaced him.

You wanna see more boring stuff about line up or blow-by-blow ' nobody remembers anyway' account of the match, stolen ( usually) from one of those links ? ....Err, wrong blog, wrong writer

Game Highlights

Willian bossed the midfield earlier on

8.59' - Torres dragged shot wide

18' - Begovic palmed a right foot deflected effort from Willian wide

19.23' -Lovely crisp passes wasted by Ivanovic at the right edge of the box. Shot over the bar

23'- Torres latched to a poor back pass but couldn't finish ( as usual) Begovic smothered the effort

32' - Matic used his strength to hold off his marker and put in a low cross from the left which Salah caught sweetly. A crisp left effort in the box. Begovic had no chance. Goal Chelsea!

40' - Ivanovic powers a header home off a Lampard cross. This was ruled out for offside. That was marginal but a good call, nonetheless

2nd half- Charlie Adam and Andy Wilkinson were introduced for Stoke. Geoff Cameron and Wilson Palacios were removed.

59'- Hazard replaces Schurrle

60'—PENALTY! Hazard's backheels the ball for Salah, who runs past Wilkinson and is brought down

61'—Begovic saves Lampard's penalty, but the ball falls into the middle of the goal and he scores the rebound. Goal!

70'- David Luiz replaces Lampard

72'- Willian ignores Salah outside him and, after jinking inside, curls a shot into the top corner. Goal!! A peach

78'— A heavily bearded Ashley Cole replaces Willian

The game just petered out after this, nothing remarkable....err..well apart from our striker labouring ( almost tearfully ) to get on the scoresheet ! *smh*

Back on top!!

This should stem the toxic goo being swirled around with reckless abandon ( in the media) about Chelsea for a while

Verdict

Easy Peazy Lemon Squeazy

Summary:

Salah was fun to watch even beyond his goal, his speed caused plenty of headaches for Stoke's left back. His touch let him down a couple times, though he's not alone in that regard. Matic was gloriously excellent in the middle.

The start was sloppy but we had the better of the contest without really creating too many other clear-cut chances

Willian was my MOTM - he was industrious as usual but scored a classy goal too ( if he adds more of that to his repertoire, he'll be great for Chelsea )

The defence kept it tight

Torres was.....Torres again

( I have this recurring dream of Diego Costa being flanked by Salah and Hazard in Chelsea's attack next season )

Is Ba still in this squad?

Best Moment - Hazard preventing David. Luiz from kicking that free kick ( over the bar )

Don't forget to support West Ham tomorrow

Surely Liverpool and City deserve a stumble or two too. We've had our fair share init?

On to the big one now!

Remember Pix 4, Guys? That was Drogba starting the remarkable comeback at the Bridge against Napoli 2 seasons ago

Next Tues, Guys, let's do a Napoli on those Baguette-eating French guys ( PSG)

Hope Eto'o is fit in time

It isn’t over till you don’t send Neuer the wrong way ( #DrogbaAllianzArena)
