Setting- UEFA European Championship group stage match - Hillsborough Stadium, Sheffield England , June 16 1996
The defending Champions, Denmark, were chasing the game- with Schmeichel joining in the attack -during a corner kick at Croatia’s end. Suddenly the Danes lost the ball. Schmeichel had enough time to race back to his penalty area before being beaten by an unforgettable looping shot by Suker. A goal of sheer impudence by a striker of the highest pedigree. Still remembered as one of the greatest goals in Euro history.
