Football eh, Crazy game!
Chelsea
Bought Willian ( £32 million) when they had a glut of attacking midfielders already
Then sent Victor Moses ( one of the better performers preseason) on loan
Sent Lukaku (highest goal scorer Preseason, impressive on loan at West Brom last season) on loan to Everton too! Lukaku is better right now than Torres or Ba
Mata ( best Chelsea player in the last 2 seasons) can't get a game
Question- Why have a Preseason ?
Arsenal
Finally signed a player of note ( Mesut Ozil) in this transfer window!!
Smashed their transfer record in doing so -£42.5m
Not lacking in the attacking midfield area, there's a need in the Striker's dept ( with Podolski injured and likely out for some months), defensive midfield and centre back!
Question- why wait till deadline day to splash the cash ?
why in an area of least need?
Manchester United
signed Marouane Fellaini ( £27.5 m, worth it? ) but only after some confusing goings-on concerning Ander Herrera, and a rumoured attempt to sign Sami Khedira. They also seemed to have tried to sign Fabio Coentrao, but it looked like that failed.
Kagawa can't get a game
Question- why can't Man Utd get the Marquee players? Fellaini will add more steel in defensive midfield but how will the creativity problem be solved?
Real Madrid
May yet be the Wally of this Transfer Window!!
Bought Gareth Bale for about an astonishing £85m!! :-o
Effectively jeopardising the position of one of their key players ( Ozil or Di Maria)
Ancelotti decided to chose Di Maria instead of Mesut 'Avatar Eyes' Ozil!!
It is almost unheard of for a player of this type of class, uninjured and not in any form-dip, and the leading playmaker in Europe, to leave a club like Real Madrid.
Well it happened!
(Although they made a tidy sum on his sale- a record for Madrid)
As expected Bale's unveiling was marred by fans' discontent at losing Ozil
Question- Is Bale required? Is he worth even half of that cost? Is he a better player than Ozil? How will Bale handle this immense pressure to perform?
Perhaps fans like me are just unnecessarily critical though. Perhaps the people at the top know what they are doing
Afterall, Abraham Lincoln once said: " if you can look into the seeds of time and say which grain would grow and which will not, then speak to me''
