Marco Van Basten, Holland vs - USSR(2-0)
Setting- UEFA European Championship final - Olympic Stadium,Munich June 25 1988.
Arguably the greatest goal in the final of a major Championship. Van Basten had drifted wide for the cross, had to keep his eyes on the ball; but was still able to produce a shot precise enough to beat Rinat Dasayev (one of the best goalkeepers in the world at the time!). All these from an impossible angle!. A few geometry laws must have been broken in that singular act!. The astonishment on Rinus Michels' face says it all!
